      once when I was using Sourcetree v2.1.11, every time I start there is comfirn dialog pop up said some dictionary file is invalid and should delete or not, and I chose not for then.

      today I update my Sourcetree to version 2.3.1 and the app just can not start up.

      somehow I found a solution: uninstall the version 2.3.1 and reinstall v2.1.11 and start it up, the dictionary file thing dialog shows up again and I chose YES to delete that file and then install the version 2.3.1 and it starts up normally.

      I'm sorry for not providing the exact content of the confirm dialog since it won't show up any more, I just remember it's a .dic file related to office/16.0/ blablabla.

      And SORRY for my poor English.

      Sourcetree is a great app, thank you team.

            Hi

            We have just started the progressive rollout of Sourcetree v2.3.5.0 which includes a fix for this issue.

            You should be prompted to upgrade sometime over the next 14 days.

            Alternatively the update can be downloaded directly here: https://downloads.atlassian.com/software/sourcetree/windows/ga/SourceTreeSetup-2.3.5.0.exe

            Ran into the same issue. Win10, SourceTree would not start - no errors or anything. Installer didn't work either. Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't work.

            Editing the user.config file did the trick.

            The workaround proposed by Michael Minns worked for me. Thank you!

            The issue seems to be Sourcetree is trying to display a warning dialog before the main window is available.

            A potential workaround is to set the following value in the user.config at %localappdata%\Atlassian\Sourcetree.exe_url_{hash}\2.3.1.0\user.config

                        <setting name="AutomaticallyCleanUpDictionaryFiles" serializeAs="String">
                            <value>True</value>
                        </setting>

            This should disable the notification that is trying to appear.
