NOTE: This suggestion is for Jira Cloud. Using Jira Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Problem Definition

Currently When moving Jira and Confluence to a different environment, most of the time in order to test. The new environment has different URLs, which affects the issue link in Jira and page links in Confluence as they rely on application link which has been defined earlier on the older environment.

      Suggested Resolution

Confluence links in Jira need to be updated as the new applink is created.

      Temporary Resolution

This issue could be solved by taking the steps at Application Link Issue When Moving Jira and Confluence. However, this may not be applicable to Cloud since a full restore of Confluence is not possible when also Jira is present on the same instance. Therefore the page-ids may be different as well, not only the hostname, and changing only Confluence url in the backup file won't solve the issue.

In this case you contact Atlassian support by logging a request in support.atlassian.com and ask them to apply the workaround for this issue.

[MIG-98] Confluence links in Jira issues should be updated automatically based on the new applink configurations

We have launched an EAP program for having a UI for updating product links. For now customers can apply for participation in the program here https://earlyaccessprogram.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/28

For us, the combination of the following workarounds solved the Confluence-Jira link issue:

            1. https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/MIG-143
After setting the dark feature, run the migration again.
            2. https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/after-a-successful-server-to-cloud-migration-url-links-are-broken-in-the-new-cloud-instance-1077781093.html
Create the link mapping on the on-prem server and ask Atlassian Support to fix the links in your Cloud instance based on your link mapping.

            Hope it helps!

            Hi Jax and Jason,

are there any news on this please - when the feature could be implemented?

            Thank you,

Once FLAM (Fix Links After Migration) is deployed, Jira's links to confluence can be updated using that service.

Update August 31st 2020 - additional features we are considering as part of this solution

In order to repair links between Jira issues and Confluence pages that have been migrated to Cloud, we also need to migrate the following data that is currently not supported by the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant and documented on this page: What gets migrated with the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant

To reflect this, we have linked these issues and marked them as blockers to resolving this ticket.

The work currently in progress on this ticket will help repair links when Confluence page ID have changed before and after migrating Confluence spaces from Server to Cloud.

Update August 25th 2020 - reclassification from Bug to Suggestion

We are changing this from a bug to suggestion due to this problem arising not from an error / regression, but due to the migration not currently supporting the the migration of Confluence links.

In general, data that is currently unsupported by the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant is documented on this page: [What gets migrated with the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant|https://confluence.atlassian.com/cloud/what-gets-migrated-with-the-jira-cloud-migration-assistant-993925216.html]

This does not change the status or prioritisation of the Atlassian teams solving this particular problem and so the issue remains In Progress as we are working on supporting the migration of this data and will provide updates on when we will have something for you to try out.
