      Problem Definition

Currently, there is no way of having a report generated to calculate how long an issue was in a particular status. This will help to identify best performers and issues which do not follow the correct timeline of an issue.

      Suggested Solution

      Implement reports that could:

      • Order issues by resolution time (to identify long running/complex ones)
      • Order issues by status
      • Order issues by users and times they took to solve issues assigned to them.
      • Order issues by projects to identify what not keeping up with project timeline/delaying the project.

      Workaround

To utilise the tab Transitions when viewing an issue. However, this is only available issue by issue.

Dashboard Hub by Appfire is a great add-on with multiple gadgets and lots of functionality. Appfire recently released a Time in Status gadget, and it provides a great view and allows for some flexibility. Dashboard links can be shared but the export is to a .png (I wish it were to .pdf; maybe one day). Get a trial, you might like it.

Hi 50414d060832. IMO, Actionable Agile Analytics is the best tool on the market for analyzing flow of Jira issues through workflows (e.g., cycle times, aging work in progress by status, process bottlenecks with cumulative flow diagrams, etc.) As great as Actionable Agile is for interactive analysis, it lacks the capability to publish reports/dashboards for consumption in Jira and/or Confluence. If you want to add better time in status reporting to native Jira, then I suggest figuring out how to incorporate views such as those offered by Actionable Agile, but as saved reports and/or dashboard gadgets.

Thank you for your feedback & comments on this ticket to date. I’m a Product Manager on the Jira team currently exploring how we can improve Jira Reports and specifically investigating how we might address this ticket in our future roadmap. Jira's REST API does not give Time in Status data. It rather gives you raw issue history on which you can make your own calculations for Time in Status data.

If you want to get calculated Time in Status data, you can use the Time in Status app built by my team at OBSS. Our app has a REST API that you can use to get calculated Time in Status data and more.

Our app even has Excel and Google Sheets template files that can be used to get our app data directly into a spreadsheet.

I understand the Time in Status data can be extracted via REST API. But can we get access to the data via Jira Cloud for Excel so that the data can be extracted easier.

Is there going to be any movement on this request?

Additionally to the existed recommendation, if you're ok with using third-party add-ons from the Atlassian Marketplace, I guess trying Time in Status for Jira Cloud by my SaaSJet team.

            It provides 7 main types of status time reports;

            Provide Cycle and Lead time reports;

Allows monitoring time in status data directly on the issue card layout (it saves lots of time)

You can share reports with colleagues or third-party add-ons; or export it to CSV or XLSX files for further analysis if needed.

This is unfathomable that this issue has been coming up for YEARS and Jira hasn't implemented it yet!! I just joined Jira, but I am not sure if it's the right solution for my company, given that highly popular feature requests (and simple and fundamental ones at that) are just completely ignored.

I can't believe Jira still doesn't have this. How can I run a support organization without knowing how long a ticket was in "Waiting for Customer Response" status? Or open vs. closed? Or in one queue before it was routed to another? Come on Atlassian, put this feature in.

If you would be interested in a mktplace solution, you can try out our plugin which my team has developed.

            Time in Status Reports

The add-on provides the time in each status for the entire lifecycle of the issue .
More than 8 types of Time in Status Reports. Excel Export available for all status reports.
You can also group your statuses to defibe your own lead/cycle times.

The data is there and likely being made available to 3rd parties so they can sell add-ins which I think is disengenous.

Ability to see from kanban board/backlog the time spent in current status,

and/or build dashboards with an ootb gadget that shows a tickets listing (similar to "filter results" gadget) but which allows to include a "time spent in current status" for each ticket,

and/or another gadget that again include a tickets listing and for each, all status transitions that each ticket went through (each column would represent a status, so that it allows to view all time spent in each status for each ticket in the listing, perhaps you would need to select up to 3-5 statuses to include since gadgets have limited space on the dashboard, depending on the chosen layout..)

are must-have features to keep Jira (cloud) competitive in this field. And those should all come ootb as core features; we don't believe a company choosing Jira would need to pay extra for 3rd party plugins to get such basic functionalities from a ticketing/project management platform.

            thanks

This feature might save a lot of time for Product Manager's to get their reporting on time aspect. Also we do not have to depend on OOTB plugins.

Please get this onboarded to Jira DC.

As Bloompeak, we developed below 2 apps available at Atlassian Marketplace.

            1. Status Time Reports: It generates status time report based on a calendar(7/24 or your working calendar). You can see sample report on online demo here.

            • Can report based on a 24/7 calendar or custom business calendars you define.
            • Can also report the number of times each status and each transition was used.
            • Can calculate average durations or counts, grouped by the fields you select.
            • Can export report data as CSV, XLS or XLSX.
