We have encountered a significant issue with the way Smart Links to Jira issues are rendered in Confluence Cloud. Previously, we could configure these links to show only the issue key (e.g., JIRA-123) with minimal formatting. However, in the new editor, the Smart Links now display additional content, including the title, issue type, and status, which negatively impacts the clarity and layout of our documentation.
Problems faced:
- No longer possible to display just the Jira issue key while retaining the smart formatting (border, status, icon).
- The added content causes layout inconsistencies, especially in compact tables or agendas where space is limited.
- We are forced to either:
-
- Revert to basic hyperlinks with manual formatting (labor-intensive), or
-
- Accept excessive text clutter on the page.
Feature Requests:
- Provide a display option for Jira Smart Links without the issue title, showing only the key and status/formatting.
- Allow users to select the preferred Smart Link display format during content migration.
- Offer an option to bulk override or configure Smart Link display settings across a space or instance (to avoid manual editing of each link).
These improvements would significantly streamline the migration process and enhance content maintainability for teams heavily integrated with Jira.
Thanks in advance

I am submitting this request via the DC project because I do not currently have access to the Cloud project. Please forward or escalate it to the appropriate team handling Confluence Cloud issues if needed.
