      Summary

      Pasting contents from external sources into Confluence editor reveals a number of problems:

      Pasting from web sources::
      • Mixed-media pastes (text + images) from web sources does not work. Will result in missing images.
        • Unable to copy images individually from web sources are tracked in a different ticket: CONFSERVER-28739
      Pasting from Microsoft apps (Word, Excel)
      • Mixed-media pastes (text + images) does not work. Will result in missing images.
      • When data is passed via Ajax to switch between markup and rich text views, the StringUtils.escapeCP1252 method is not applied.
      • Extra  s,
      • Extra macros
      • List elements each become a paragraph (I don't think there's enough information in the HTML to fix this)
