Update as of 12 June 2015

      Hi everyone,
We know the way permissions work in service desk projects is not optimal at the moment. This is something we are looking at. Thanks for your feedback!

      The JIRA Service Desk team

We use a custom permission scheme for our Service Desk (as described here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/SERVICEDESK/Using+custom+permission+schemes). This means all agents see this message:

This would just be a minor annoyance, except that Project Admins are able to click the error and "upgrade" the permission scheme:

Is there a way to hide or dismiss this message?

            Hi,

We are getting some warning at JSD 3.7.0. Are there any method to disable this warning?

            Hi

This issue has been fixed by JSD-1969, and will be available in an upcoming release of JSD.

Please watch that ticket for updates.

            Regards

The ability to dismiss the Warning Alert dialog has been implemented as part of JSD-1969.

It is due to be available in an upcoming release of JSD.

This means that non-admins will not see a Warning only Alert, and admins have the choice to either Upgrade the scheme or dismiss the warning.

In the case of an Error Alert however, everyone will continue to see this, as it is something that can not be dismissed and should be fixed by an admin.

There are atleast 2 issues to highlight here:

            • The lack of a way to dismiss or hide the custom permission scheme alerts which is visible with all service desk agents and admins, and there is no way to dismiss the error.
            • The fact that project admins are able to modify the permission scheme by using the upgrade button from service desk (which they actually should not be able to do from JIRA, as this is supposed to be restricted to JIRA Administrators).
Regarding the second issue though, it appears a workaround is to restrict the Project Admin permission for the Service Desk a bit more since service desk configurations wouldn't change very often, perhaps to a Lead in the agents team that needs to be able to implement configuration changes and understands the implication of modifying the permissions. Managers and other agents who don't need to directly configure servicedesks will continue to see the alerts but atleast wont be able to click the upgrade button.

Please allow us to dismiss this warning. We cannot allow standard users to delete issues or set issue security, as this would violate our data security policy.

As an admin, I have a few other things on my plate besides constantly auditing these service desks for non-compliance.

Thanks for any help you can give
