Make "Request participants" custom field available to security level configuration

    • We collect Jira Service Desk feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Service Desk Server. Using JIRA Service Desk Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

"Request participants" custom field is not available when configuring a security level. So there is no way to both enable issue security and allow request participants to view these issues.

Documentation warns about this but offers no workaround:

Note that enabling these settings does not bypass JIRA issue-level security. If issue-level security (e.g. restricting an issue to only be viewable by the reporter) has been applied, participants may not be able to access their requests.

Found a way to solve this issue, it's not perfect as old tickets will be scuffed but maybe it works for some of you.

You have to create a custom field "User Picker". Then in your security level, you can add it under "User custom field value".

Then all that's left is to remove the current "Request participants" field with your custom ones in request types.

For new projects, this will work great, for existing ones it's going to cause a few headaches but its something. Hope it helps some of you.

What do we need to do to have that functionality?
