      Atlassian Update – 30 September 2019

      Hi everyone,

      The issue has been fixed and is now waiting to be released in the upcoming 8.5.1 (Enterprise lane) and 8.6.0 versions. The View in Excel option has been removed from the context menu. All available export formats are available in the Export dropdown menu present in Issue Navigator after proceeding with the View in Issue navigator option.

      Summary

      When right-clicking an issue on the Backlog view (context menu) of an Agile Board and selecting "View in Excel", it leads to a "404" page error.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Go to an existing Scrum board, or create a new one and link to a filter with ongoing issues;
      2. Navigate to the "Backlog" view;
      3. Right click on an issue and choose "View in Excel";

      Expected Results

      Given the recent removal of the feature that allowed exporting issues to Excel (see JRA-61891), the context menu should instead present an option to export as CSV.

      Actual Results

      End up in a 404 page error.

      Workarounds

      Option #1 - View in Issue Navigator
      1. Choose "View in Issue Navigator";
      2. Use the exporting features available there, such as CSV;
      Option #2 - Re-enable Excel export
      1. Open the jira-config.properties file inside JIRA's Home Directory (or create it, if it doesn't exist);
      2. Add the below property to the file;
        jira.export.excel.enabled = true

      3. Save the file;
      4. Restart JIRA;

            I need to weigh in.  You're going to "fix" it by "removing" it?  Makes no sense.  Especially since one can fix it by adding the entry to the properties file.   Just my opinion.

            thanks..

            (apologies for the edits - monday an all that)

            Still an issue at 7.12.3. And first workaround

            1. Choose "View in Issue Navigator";
            2. Use the exporting features available there, such as CSV;

            does not appear to work anymore, as it is no longer possible to export from navigator view, and CSV is no longer an available format to export in even if you open the issue in its own tab.

            Good grief! At least hide the menu option if it's not going to work, Atlassian! Why leave a menu option out there for two years when it's obviously broken and you have no intention of fixing it? It's really sad to see how far Atlassian has fallen in quality and customer responsiveness within their flagship applications.

            The issue is still present in 7.10.2 and the property to add to the file doesn't seem to work either

            When will this be fixed???

            It was reported in 2016, I have users who try to use the View Excel on issues and get the 404 error and I get calls on it.

            Take the option out or change it to export the excel.

            Thanks.

            Interesting oversight which should really see a fix/removal since it leads to customer questions in our organization ("I want my Excel!!11")
