As an service desk admin I want to be able to disable the initial confirmation email sent by jira service desk to our customers after a new request was created via mail.

[JSDSERVER-1620] Option to disable initial service desk ticket confirmation notification

Please add this option, we don't want ServiceDesk users contacting us via email to even know they are using Jira.

            Thanks for the clarification Shanelle.

This feature has been released is JIRA Service Desk 3.10 from what I saw in the release note.

At the moment, that would meant the above issue can be resolved.

I meant users notification when they are created from sending an email to Jira Service Desk

I think this may be resolved in newer Service Desk when the Request Created notification found in Project > Project Settings > Customer Notification page is disabled.

Note though that if you meant users notification when they are created from sending an email to Jira Service Desk, this problem would still occur and there is no way to disable it to my knowledge.

Almost 2.5 years and little attention, this is a shame, since the JSD cannot be configured not skip sending a redundant notification. Our users are inundated with JIRA emails and admins have no control!!!

It looks like a very bad programming, very bad product management because:

            • No option to customize email notification message via UI or config file text
            • No option to selectively disable this particular notification

can this be looked into? looks like it is causing too much noise.

It seems that you can disable this notification only by disabling all customer notifications.

            Configuring service desk notifications

Two settings impact how notifications work for a service desk project:

The system level Notifications setting controls the customer notifications for all service desk projects. This setting is enabled by default and can be disabled by going to > Applications > JIRA Service Desk Configuration

            Thanks

Hey Atlassian – issue is more than one year old, can we get a status update from your side please?

There is already so much noise around notifications - spamming users with this additional notification just encourages them not to read the other, more relevant messages since they're overloaded.
