Update on April 12, 2016 – Signup is avaiable on the help center

      Hi everyone,
The signup option is now available on the help center when there is at least one service desk project that has public signup enabled.

      Cheers,
      JIRA Service Desk team

      Problem Definition

The Help Center link does not allow users to sign up to JSD even when all its portals have public access enabled.
While browsing the Help Center only the login prompt is displayed, whereas the individual customer portals offer both login, and signup pages.

      Suggested Solution

If any customer portal allows for anonymous signup, then the option should be available when the Help Center is accessed.

[JSDSERVER-1388] Add public signup to portal of portals (Help Center)

            Hi,

When public signup was first implemented, the Help Center did not exist, and therefore this has been an oversight. But something we intend to correct in the short term.

            Regards
            Matt

Customers are getting confused on seeing the two URL's, one for creating the user id and another one for the request creation. This feature needs to be included in the customer portal at the earliest. Very strange to notice that the issue has been raised almost an year ago and still no developments.

This bug (not suggestion) needs to be fixed asap! We have over 1500 employees that have to go to a redirected HTML page to create an account? not acceptable!. Not everyone is tech savvy and adding redirections and detours is not best practice. Hope to see this fixed in the next build.

Totally agree! We supply our customers the link to our portal only (also because it has a clean url)

Definitely something my company would love to have as well. We have a lot of non-technical people on our customer base and removing additional steps/links for them to have to memorize is a huge driving factor in if we allot budget to using a product like this. We want to remove clutter and confusion, not add to it.

I'd actually like to second Phillip's comment that if ANY of the sub-portals has public signup you should see the public signup option on the main home portal page. Then when you sign up you should be able to access any publicly accessible portal with your account.

I don't believe this is a minor improvement. This is actually a bug of the Help Center (/portals), which cannot be used without this change because customers won't be able to figure out how to sign up to the Help Center.

A slight refinement of this would be if any customer portal allows for anonymous signup then the option should be available when the Help Center is accessed. Admittedly, if you are going to have multiple customer portals then it makes sense that all of them allow anonymous signup, but that may not be the case and it shouldn't preclude signup being offered at the main portal.
