Product Update as of 20 December 2023

      Hi everyone,

Custom domains for all paid Jira Service Management Help Center customers are now generally available. To get started on setting up your custom domain, please reference Atlassian’s support documentation. the documentation can be found here.

Value of custom domains for your JSM Help Center

Implementing your own branded URL for your Help Center will make it easier for your customers to find and recognize your brand. Operationally, your customers will have an even more seamless experience getting the help they need from the right places. Greater discoverability enables more self-provisioned help and less time required for your team to manage requests.

      Updates since open beta

Since announcing the open beta for this feature in August, we’ve been working to introduce more flexibility in how you implement your branded URL. Currently, you’re prompted to select from a list of keywords for your first level subdomain, but that part of the domain will soon also be free text.

      What’s next

Last week, we announced the launch of the Early Access Program (EAP) for custom domains for Jira - including Jira Software, Jira Work Management, Jira Product Discovery and the agent experience in Jira Service Management. If you’re interested in joining the program, please refer to this comment and complete this registration form.

      Best,

      Martin

As a Project Administrator, I would like to have the ability to display a different URL for JIRA Service Desk (e.g. support.company.com) instead of jira.xxx.com

      Problem Definition

In JIRA Service Desk, customers must access JIRA by using a Service Desk URL, which can sometimes be quite a long path, depending on the portal.

      Suggested Solution

      • Create the ability to have a Short URL option on the portal, (like short url's in Confluence pages)
      • Create the ability to have customisable short URL's that could point to different portals in JIRA Service Desk.

      Workaround

      None

I feel quite confused now - can och cannot you set a name instead of the portal ID in the URL? And if yes, can you do it without adding a custom domain - i.e. start small but effective, getting rid of the numbers in the URL?

We would love a feature that allows for URL shortening in the Help Center. The current URLs are not user-friendly, appearing as lengthy strings like: https://company.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/11/group/72/create/217. While these links function decently within Atlassian products due to an added overlay, sharing Help Center URLs externally is problematic. Futhermore, these URLs get worse the deeper you navigate into the Help Center.

Incorporating a 'share' button, similar to the one used in Confluence, which generates a short URL for easy linking to the portal, would be amazing.

Thank you for implementing this! Would it please be possible to get some insight into the decision to force the use of two levels of sub-domains? We just want to use support.<our domain>.org.

            Thank you,
            Dave
