Allow support for project schemes or templates

Thanks so much for your votes and comments on this feature request.

We are in the early stages of a sustained investment in simplifying project configuration and making it easier for individual project owners to maintain their projects. Our goal is to help teams get JIRA projects that are tuned to meet their needs, make it easy for anyone to set up a JIRA project, and reduce the amount of repetitive configuration work that JIRA administrators need to do.

At the same time, we are committed to maintaining the power and controls that JIRA provides to administrators to achieve standardization across projects and shared configurations.

We see templates as the most viable solution for delivering this capability; however it's critical that we build templates as part of the larger system of setting up and maintaing projects, and we need to ensure this system can also meet our goals around making JIRA project configuration simple and accessible for everyone.

So while we do expect to provide templates at some point in the future, it's part of a much larger set of improvements that will span a significant period of time. Thanks for your patience while we work to make JIRA better. We will update this issue as we have more information.

If you're looking for an immediate solution, there are a number of add-ons in the Atlassian Marketplace for JIRA Server:

• Configuration Manager for JIRA
• Project Creator for JIRA
• Gaia for JIRA
• Project Configurator

Unfortunately I am not aware of any add-ons for JIRA Cloud to support this, but I will update this issue if one becomes available.
