Creating a new project takes hours and hours.
We really need a possibility to create custom templates for Jira SM projects which fulfill our demands so we are able to produce "standalone clones" (copied but not shared settings).

We urgently need this feature to ensure consistency across projects!

If there has been active work on this feature, have there been any RFCs posted via the Developer Forum or similar channels, or is this JAC Feature Request the only source of such 'comments' on the feature?

How many years have people been asking?

I've abandoned Atlassian and have been recommending other solutions to clients for years.  You will not recover those lost customers.  Waiting another year or two will just deepen that potential revenue hole.  The reputational damage is already done.

You can create a project via "templates" via automation up to a point

The point being the project board itself

JSWCLOUD-20535 Add the ability to define board configuration through the REST API - Create and track feature requests for Atlassian products.

This would be great, as it is currently odd that you can create a project via automation that triggers the relevant APIs to

Validate the Project Name and Key and return new value if already used

use value to create a project from in built or own templates

ie

Then for own templates Create the filter for the project and create Scrum or Kanban board

Add People and/or groups to the relevant roles in the project

But you cannot set the Board configuration for the project.

You can only GET not PUT or POST

Would not be as bad if you could at least change the default board config that is used to create the board, then its at least as single place to map out for the many ONCE
