      Atlassian Update – 31 October 2024

This feature has now been shipped to all continuous release track customers 🎉

Edit Workflow is a new permission that, when granted, allows the user to make modifications (e.g switching statuses and transitions) to exisiting isolated workflows in their company-managed project. This is an ability that all Jira Admins have by default, but can now be delegated to any user or role, empowering teams to directly manage and customise their project’s workflows.

To get started with this feature, Jira Admins can grant permission to edit workflows:

      1. Go to Settings () > Permissions schemes.
      2. Find the correct permission scheme and select Permissions.
      3. For the Edit workflows permission, select Update.
      4. Choose who to grant the permission to.
      5. Select Update.

To use the Edit Workflow permission after it has been granted to you:

      1. Go to the project where you would like to manage the workflow
      2. Go to Project Settings
      3. Select the Workflow tab
      4. Select Edit Workflow for the workflow you would like to modify
      5. Use the editor to modify the workflow
      6. Click Save Changes once done

Bundled release track customers will have sandbox access by Nov 12th 2024 and production access by Dec 10th 2024.

Public documentation can be found here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/permissions-for-company-managed-projects/

If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to reach out to dcbd111bd252 or jthomas@atlassian.com directly!

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

For the Extended Project Administrator permissions planned for JIRA 7.3 it would be great if someone assigned this permission can edit any Workflow which is only assigned to projects which they manage (in addition to Worlflows which are only attached to a single project).

P.S: Also, consider this ability for Jira Cloud application.
