https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/GHS-7753 implemented support for swimlane by epic for Scrum boards only - https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/GH/GreenHopper+6.2.1+Release+Notes#GreenHopper6.2.1ReleaseNotes-Epic-basedSwimlanes

I have the same use case for a team that uses the Kanban boards.

[JSWSERVER-9144] Swimlane by epic for Kanban boards

I"m new with Jira cloud.  Could you elaborate on the use of swimlanes on kanban boards?  I'm unsure how to implement epic issue types in the filter.

            FWIW-

this does not work unless you include epic issue types in the filter for your board.

david.stokes, this story tracked the addition of epic swimlanes for Kanban boards.
You may want to follow GHS-7052 for other Kanban board epic items, I recently updated that issue to mention that work is in progress for a plan mode for Kanban boards GHS-6175. This is a big step forward for enabling Kanban epics support and we are making good progress for this epic.

            Kind regards,
            Martin

Hi Martin - what's been delivered so far extremely basic - we need a similar set of functionality as is provided in Scrum, ie: being able to drag issues into Epics, etc. Refer to my comments in Jan when it was released.
            Thanks
            David

+1, too. We need this feature. Could you increase the prioity of the issue?

You could add this to the "Work Sub-Filter": "... and ('Epic Status' != Done or type != Epic"

... but beware that there is currently no means to ensure that new stories are not added to Done Epics, which may result in some "misaligned" items (open issues in a Done Epic) to disappear from the board or be in the "wrong" swim lane.

Hi - if an epic is closed (resolution: Done) and all its tasks and subtasks are closed (resolution: Done), is there a way to make the epic swimlane disappear from the board? Thanks.
