While working on a project with a client, they inquired as to whether it was possible to have an editable scrolling banner on the Customer Portal.
The proposed purpose for this banner is to provide announcements when a system is down, and so stop customers logging lots of tickets about an issue which the service desk team are already working on.

Hey,
Having given this some more thought, the scrolling banner may be too difficult for customers to read.
Perhaps a more simple solution would be the option to select an 'Alert' or 'Attention' option (drop-down?) where the optional description appears on the Customer Portal. Selecting this option would then highlight the text in some way, such as Alert appearing in bold red upper-case, to make customers aware of an ongoing issue / issue that is known about and is being dealt with.
