      Summary

This seems to be a minor regression of JRASERVER-42902. Copy & paste content from Notepad/Word removes line breaks only on Customer Portal. If we do the same in JIRA view, the line breaks are preserved.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Open IE11 or Firefox.
      2. Access one of the Service Desk issue on Customer Portal.
      3. Copy & paste the following content to Notepad:
        line one
        line two
        line three

      4. Then copy & paste the content from Notepad into the comment section of the Service Desk issue.

      Expected Results

      The content suppose to be:

      line one
      line two
      line three

      Actual Results

      The content will be:

      line oneline twoline three

      Note

This is also affecting users that open Support tickets on https://getsupport.atlassian.com on IE11/Firefox browser. If you encounter such behaviour, please use the workaround below.

      Workaround

      1. Instead of using Ctrl+V, please use Right-click on mouse - Paste.
      2. Use a different browser like Chrome

This is becoming a real disturbance for some of our users, since it is a trivial operation performed frequently. While not critically affecting work it is still being reported as an annoyance! Please fix that oversight. (We are on 4.13.18)

This bug was reported almost 4 years ago. Can somebody enlighten me why more impact is needed? What kind of impact is needed, would you like me to tweet about the issue or create a blog post? Or do you just need a certain number of users to complain here?

Ok, here is some impact for you: This BUG is still a major pain in the most recent version of Firefox. But most regular users didn't chose to use the Customer Portal, they are made using it. And they won't go search the web to find this issue here and complain. Most will be just experiencing this bug and manually insert all the missing line breaks. I've seen it happen.

Holy smokes, I just realized JSDCLOUD-6351 (same bug) was closed as wontfix. What the?

I'm seeing this issue in the latest version of Chrome. Right-click-paste also doesn't work, only "paste as plain text" works.
