Thumbnail is not generated automatically for gif file in the comment

      Summary

      When user tried to add a comment by attaching .gif file in the Jira Service Desk Issue , the thumbnail postfix is not generated automatically in the comment (only works for .jpg and .png file) . The user have to add the thumbnail postfix manually in order to make the .gif picture smaller.

      Environment

      JIRA SERVICE DESK 3.0.5

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Go to Jira Service Desk 3.0.5
      2. Create a new Service Desk Issue
      3. Add a comment by attaching any .jpg , .png and .gif files as below:

      Expected Results

      All the attached files should be displayed in thumbnail size and the thumbnail postfix should be added automatically for all the files.

      Actual Results

      The thumbnail postfix for .jpg and .png is added automatically but for the .gif file the user have to add thumbnail postfix manually in the comment , if not the .gif file will be shown at original resolution and really big size(possess almost half of screen).

            with the new mega design gifs are displayed the way it's impossible to use
            The picture is a gif and user sees only the middle part of it

            Please fix gif thumbnails again. Gifs are great for demonstrating UI behavior without having to make a video. Right now gifs are near useless in the issue description because of how much they can muddy up and distract from an otherwise clean description.

            Hi mwinsen,

            I remember the feature pointed out here used to be working, and it was helpful when the size is big.

            In my case, I put a screenshot in animated gif to UI problem issues, which typically captures full-screened browser. Showing such gif in the actual size is really annoying in Issue Page, and I very much prefer only see a small thumbnail image instead of itself.

            When we needed to show animated image, it was possible by putting gif image tag without thumbnail parameter, which was really good and made sense for me.

            I hope you could consider it well together with the request from david1324394815.
