      Atlassian Update – 4 May 2023

Hi everyone, In Jira Service Management 4.15, we shipped the ability for help seekers to vote on requests through the customer portal. Previously, voting was only available for agents or users with accounts on the Jira instance, excluding many help seekers who only interact with the requests through the portal.

The feedback post the release made it clear that the feature shipped in 4.15 wasn’t resolving the use case. Although the votes field was made accessible on the portal, the pool of potential voters was limited by the existing request sharing model.

In our upcoming 5.9 release, we’ll be shipping the Sharing requests with group feature that will allow sharing requests with Jira groups. Project admins will no longer have to rebuild internal customer groups within their organization or manually add group members as request participants to grant them access to requests. The feature provides a more efficient and scalable means of sharing requests with internal customers (employees) without additional permission management, making it easier to build the pool of potential voters on a request.

      Cheers,
