      Atlassian Update – 5 June 2023

      Hi everyone,

We are excited to announce that Jira Service Management 5.9 has been shipped!
This latest release includes the “Share requests with groups” feature, which will make it easier to build the pool of potential internal voters on a request.

To learn more about the release, visit the Jira Service Management 5.9 release notes.

      Cheers,

      Atlassian Update – 4 May 2023

Hi everyone, In Jira Service Management 4.15, we shipped the ability for help seekers to vote on requests through the customer portal. Previously, voting was only available for agents or users with accounts on the Jira instance, excluding many help seekers who only interact with the requests through the portal.

The feedback post the release made it clear that the feature shipped in 4.15 wasn’t resolving the use case. Although the votes field was made accessible on the portal, the pool of potential voters was limited by the existing request sharing model.

In our upcoming 5.9 release, we’ll be shipping the Sharing requests with group feature that will allow sharing requests with Jira groups. Project admins will no longer have to rebuild internal customer groups within their organization or manually add group members as request participants to grant them access to requests. The feature provides a more efficient and scalable means of sharing requests with internal customers (employees) without additional permission management, making it easier to build the pool of potential voters on a request.

      Cheers,
      Divyanshi Vashist

      Problem definition

It's not possible for Service Desk customers to vote for a request via the Customer Portal.

      Suggestion

Allow the voting feature in Customer Portal

      Original description

Could you please implement the ability to vote on an issue using Customer Portal interface? That would be great!

Excellent, We have internal users and clients that use our software but are not in Jira as users so having the ability to enable both groups to vote on service desk issues will be great.

            Hi 46be79491d49!

Thanks so much for your feedback.

In Jira Service Management 4.15, we shipped the ability for help seekers to vote on requests through the customer portal. With public signup enabled external customers will be able to access the project's customer portal, while not consuming a license.

In the meantime we'll work internally to extend our documentation to make sure this is clear.

However is there additional scope for your use case that the above doesn't cover? Keen to better understand your frustration.

            Cheers!
            Alex

Public users should be able to vote on issues created by the public. We can't force or pay for our clients to have an Atlassian account to give us feedback on our product.

Ticket is only 8 years old guys.

Atlassian strategy requires at least 10 years before considering implementation. :'(

This is one of the major items that JSM is missing.  Please add this as a feature along with a public facing road map tied to Jira.

I won't touch service management until this is a feature. This is the only thing that would give JSM an advantage. There's probably 100 clients who don't vote but would want this feature for every one of us who do vote.

Obviously it's useful to your business Atlassian, so...?
