Problem Definition

At this time in the Send email action of automation, we can either select a group custom field or select a group name directly. We don't have a way to send the email to the group type attribute of an Insight object custom field.

Suggested Solution

Ability to use Send email action for Insight group attribute using a smartvalue like InsightObject.AssignedGroup

Workaround

At this time, you need to copy the Insight object group attribute InsightObject.AssignedGroup to a Jira group type custom field first and then specify the group custom field in the Send email action.

Example

To implement this, copy the group value from the object's attribute to a custom Group Jira field. For instance, if an object type with a group attribute named "Group" contains the Atlassian group that needs emailing, and a custom Group Jira field called "Asset_Group", the value can be copied using the "Edit work item" action with smart values.

Once the value is copied, use the custom Group Jira field to send the email. The "Send email" action allows to select a custom field in the "To" field. In this example, the "To" field can select the "Asset_Group" Group Jira field.
