Use Case:
As an admin I am concerned that I am having a problem with incoming or outgoing mail. I need the ability to monitor the health of JIRA's incoming and outgoing email.
Suggested Change:
Provide a way for admin to monitor health of incoming and outgoing email.
Example health metrics and items that could be monitored:
- Amount of time spent sending one email (perhaps as a histogram or pareto chart)
- Amount of time spent sending/receiving the current message
- Status of each mail handler and mail queue service (if it is currently running, when it last ran)
- Number of emails sent in past hour, past day, and so on.
- Failed message percentage
- Status of mail on each node in JIRA Data Center instances
