    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

In some situations we want to be able to limit the groups/users that a jira user would be able to choose from, for example we have a 'Teams to Notify' field, which is used in the notification scheme. We want to be able to allow a few groups to be chosen, rather than the entire list of groups. The field would have to be implemented more like a multi select, rather than a text field as currently is the case.

[JRASERVER-11945] Ability to add options to a multi user/group picker

Seriously, how is this not a standard feature??

At least you should be able to filter the group picker based on the permissions of the Project (browse projects would be nice) or a custom JQL

I agree I don't think this will receive enough votes for Atlassian to notice. Power Custom Fields would be able to handle this easily.

Anyone know of a plug in that can do this?

I don't believe this will get enough votes to be noticed by Atlassian.

Group Picker filter is an essential one. It would be better if there is an option to filter groups.

We have 8000 groups in Jira, whenever we use a group picker fields in our project all these 8K groups are displayed eventhough many are irrelevant to our project, This has casued a lot of confusion among the user community and has led to ticket being assigned to orphaned groups .

Would be very helpful and a big UX optimization for our departments. +1

Are there any updates on this issue? This was requested almost 10 years ago.

Problem is solvable using this plugin: https://goo.gl/TYc2OR . It does a lot more than you are requesting, but that comes just as a bonus

You can only select groups, which you are member of, when sharing filters / dashboards / etc. Even as Administrators.
            Understandable, but annoying.

If I could apply the same restriction on custom group picker, I would be sooo happy.

We have a group picker field called which is required for anyone to create a ticket in one of our projects. There is no restriction/validation around this field and anyone who is a member of group 'Foo' can still type 'Bar' in the Company field and succesfully create a ticket. Additionally, we have disabled the search function on groups for common users, so there is no way for a user to see exactly what their appropriate options are.

I would like it so that the Company field is single-select drop-down consisting solely of groups of which the current user is a member.

Looking for this feature too. Users can only select from a list of groups to which he is a member. a global permission should give the ability for users of some other groups (admin, developers for example) to access the whole list of JIRA groups.

            Thx,
            Yo
