      Problem Definition

Currently, there does not seem to be anything that limits which Sprint an issue can be added into when done via the Issue View/Create/Edit Screens (with the 'Sprint' field). This can cause confusion as it could show Sprints from boards from a different project or cause users to link the issue to the wrong Sprint due to Sprints having the same name.

      Suggested Solution

Have a feature where JIRA will warn users that the issue(s) is being added into a Sprint that was created in a Board from different a project - validate this with the Board JQL too.

      Workaround

Since Sprint names are not unique in JIRA, try using unique Sprint names with a prefix of the Project so that it will be easier to distinguish them.

+1 to this. The checkbox implemented on JSWCLOUD-10805 is both annoying to keep checking and does not always work....we have a team who split into two, and we still see sprints in their old board show up in their new one on occasion. I can't say specifically what the root cause is, but I suppose it's somehow our own fault for moving the issues between projects?

Either way, please implement the thing we asked for:

The ability to restrict the items in an issue's "Sprint" pick-list to only active or future sprints in the board to which those issues are shown, and hide any other sprints, by default.

            And not...well...not-that.

You ignored the original suggestion for over 8 years, so I'd ask you to take a look in the comments and see how many customers you've annoyed with it:

You fixed this in the server version 2 years ago (yes, really!), but still didn't fix the cloud version until today (!!!):
