Non-English language in-site and app notifications contain strange characters

      Note on the fix

      All new notifications should not have any garbled text in them. Please contact Jira Cloud Support if you see the problem reemerge. Unfortunately, existing notifications that were created during the incident are not recoverable and will continue to show with garbled text until they expire after 30 days. This would have occurred on notifications with a Jira issue summary that contained non-US-ASCII characters.

      Issue Summary

      On several instances users are seeing strange characters in their in-site and mobile app notifications. The problem does not appear in email notifications.

      Notifications should not contain garbled characters.

      Workaround

      Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
