NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Cloud.

      Problem
Unable to monitor the email connectivity to the default Cloud mail server as well as any custom mail server and its incoming mail handlers.

Connectivity logs are available for default email accounts for JSD projects.
Same way, connectivity/handling logs should also be made available for default cloud mail server.

[JRACLOUD-73011] Provide access to the Incoming mail logs

This would certainly help reduce the number of tickets we have to submit to support.

I've been using the global mail handler as a workaround for the lack of being able to have multiple emails configured for a particular service management project. I was notified this morning that the Jira mail handler apparently has been bouncing emails since 6/6. Unfortunately, and surprisingly, there appears to be no log for these emails, so I have no ability to see what might have been the problem. This seems pretty important to have.

This seems like a basic feature to be honest.

Adding a vote here. We have logs in Jira Service Management but not for our Jira Software instance. We are seeing intermittent failures with tasks not being created in our Jira Software Project and would like to identify the reason why. These mail logs are vital in troubleshooting.

The "Incoming Mail Server" mechanism is clearly not ready for "prime time" when connecting to Office 365, at least when using Jira Cloud. We just configured it and it fails intermittently and there is no way to monitor those failures.

I am guessing that this functionality is not too important to Atlassian, since this item has been opened for 4+ years.

Agreed. We need a way to view the processing log of incoming and outgoing mail activity in Jira and Jira Software Cloud including authentication failures.
