      Atlassian Update - 16 Dec 2019

      Hi Everyone,

I want to provide a quick update for this topic. this feature Restricted comments is now available for all users on classic projects in Jira cloud.

Thanks for your patience and we advise you to use the new issue view again if you previously opted out because of missing this feature. You can do so via your Settings > Jira Labs section will have a 'new issue view' toggle to turn it on.

      Regards,

      Atlassian

      Atlassian Update - 11 Dec 2019

      Hi Everyone,

I want to provide a quick update for this topic. We have started rolling out this feature Restricted comments this week and hopefully, it will be available for all classic project customers in the next couple of weeks.

In the meantime, you can opt out of this new issue experience via your Personal Settings > Jira Labs section will have a 'new issue view' toggle to turn it on or off. We will not be disabling this opt-out option until we have rebuilt all the key features of the Jira issues experience you have come to know and love.

      Regards,

      Atlassian

      Atlassian Update - 10 Dec 2019

      Hi Everyone,

I want to provide a quick update for this topic. We are planning to start the rollout of this feature Restricted comments this month and hopefully, it will be available for all classic project customers early Jan and it will include all the existing functionality that was on the old issue view. I know this has taken a while to build out, but rebuilding Jira issues is no small feat, so we very much appreciate your patience on this.

      Atlassian Update - 30 Nov 2018

      Hi Everyone,

I want to provide a quick update for this topic. We have been building and rolling out the new issue view for some time now, and there are still some key pieces of missing functionality that we are eager to build but have not gotten to yet, Restricted comments being one of them.

We are currently working on several other features and improvements for the new view. A few examples that are a higher priority now are adding back the ability to manager watchers and the ability to order your custom order fields.

We have planned to start work on this feature, Restricted comments, in the next few months and it will include all the existing functionality that was on the old issue view. I know this has taken a while to build out, but rebuilding Jira issues is no small feat, so we very much appreciate your patience on this.

In the meantime, you can opt out of this new issue experience via your Personal Settings > Jira Labs section will have a 'new issue view' toggle to turn it on or off. Regards,

      Atlassian

      Summary

On the new issue detail view, the option to restrict comments is missing on the comment field on the issue.

      Environment (Optional - If Applicable)

Instances having the " New Issue detail view" option enabled.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Navigate to a board
      2. Select an issue from the board to open the issue detailed view pop-up
      3. Click on the comment field

      Expected Results

The padlock icon should appear on the comment field to allow comment restriction.

      Actual Results

      The padlock icon is missing.

      Notes

This also effects any Jira Service Desk issues. It prevents the "Internal Comment" button from showing up if a Jira Service Desk Issue is viewed in this way via a board.

      Workaround

You can disable the new issue view by either:

      • Click on your avatar (bottom  left section of the screen), Select Personal Settings and switch of the switch under "Atlassian Labs"
      • Add ?oldIssueView=true to the url of the issues you want to see using the old UI

However, as mentioned in the personal settings page, please note that:

The new issue view is on for all business boards and next-gen projects, so this won't affect them.
