Use Confluence's REST API to retrieve Confluence page link data

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Cloud. Using JIRA Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

Currently, JIRA uses XMLRPC to communicate with Confluence in four ways:

      1. Retrieve lists of spaces from the instance.
      2. Search for content in the instance (globally or by space).
      3. Given a pageId, retrieve page titles and urls for Confluence content.
      4. Given a URL, retrieve a pageId for what is assumed to be Confluence content.

JIRA should use Confluence's REST API to achieve (3). This would resolve issues with ClassCastExceptions and other remote errors that occur when retrieving Confluence content via XMLRPC.
