Unify user management between Jira/Confluence Cloud and Trello

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

At this moment, the user management page seamlessly covers access to Jira Cloud and Confluence Cloud under one roof.
However, Org admins can't define Trello access for users in their userbase (managed or unmanaged accounts).

Please unify the products from a user management perspective, so that access can be granted easier to any of the Atlassian products.

[ID-7516] Unify user management between Jira/Confluence Cloud and Trello

Still waiting for possibilities to kick out the free trello users from the managed accounts that tried trello once 5 years ago, and are still billable users in Access.

When are we getting the ability to remove Trello access for managed users?

Hi Emma, I'm not sure what you mean by "Can continue to be managed". I can't manage Trello users, I can just view all the users that are using up my Atlassian Access licenses that I have absolutely no control over. Unless I'm missing something? I can't believe I still can't control who is using Atlassian Access licenses.

Hi 975faa10c074 Trello Free users managed by Atlassian Access can continue to be managed under the Managed Accounts tab of Admin hub.

d1acc3befb1c Please create a support ticket as that's the best way to get assistance. Thank you!

Actually we have a problem, because Trello platform users can't log in unless they're part of an affection group defined and assigned on the rights admin console.

I think authentication is attached to our Azure IDP and requires Trello Users to be in groups that are currently mapped to the Confluence application. And that's where the problem lies.

As far as we're concerned, there are two acceptable options for controlling access to Trello,

            • Either Atlassian cuts out authentication with our Azure AD IDP to access Trello, and they can then connect directly to Trello.com with their TCS e-mail address, in a local Trello database,
            • Alternatively, you can attach the Trello site to the admin console below and manage access with a dedicated group:

What's not normal is that we're not currently able to manage Trello access rights with dedicated user groups. For our Trello TCS users to access the application, they need to be part of the application groups that are currently used to access Confluence.

Thanks in advance for your help and feedback.

            Best Regards.

Emma, I've noticed that you've said "Trello enterprise" user management. What about Trello free? What happens if a user signs up to the free Trello and are using Atlassian Access licenses?

Update as of April 24, 2023. Trello Enterprise user management and SCIM group provisioning is released to first customers. We will be gradually making this a default admin experience for all customers throughout 2023. Learn more here.

            • Trello Enterprise is represented in admin.atlassian.com, alongside other Atlassian products
            • Like with other Atlassian products, Org Admins are able to grant or revoke access to Trello Enterprise to users: manually, or using groups, or with SCIM IdP sync
            • Trello admin dashboard is still used, as a supportive tool, for more granular administration (Trello-specific security policies, managing Trello workspaces and shadow IT)

Hi everyone, to introduce myself, I’m Emma Yee, Product Manager on our Cloud Admin team. Going forward, I will be a point of contact for you on the progress we’ve made for these features.

I’m excited to share that we are implementing user and group provisioning in admin.atlassian.com for Trello Enterprise, as you can see and follow along on our Cloud Roadmap. After this implementation, the following will occur:

            • Like with other Atlassian products, organization admins will be able to grant or revoke access to Trello Enterprise to users: manually, using groups or SCIM IdP sync
            • Trello admin dashboard will still be used, for more granular administration (Trello-specific security policies, managing Trello workspaces and free managed users)

This work is progressing on track for delivery April 2023 and will be initially be available via opt-in, with gradual rollout in subsequent months.

Thanks for the engagement on this ticket, and I look forward to share our continued progress going forward.

            Hi Everyone,

We're starting work on this soon, there's no fixed date for completion yet. When we have clearer estimates for completion we'll post them here.

            Thanks for your patience,

This is a major need for us as Atlassian and Trello enterprise users. As a Trello enterprise customer that's faced with adoption of Atlassian Access, we have the same concerns as the previous two commenters. We need control over specifically who, within our Atlassian Cloud user base, has access to Trello, for data security purposes as well as Trello license control.
