Unify user management between Jira/Confluence Cloud and Bitbucket Cloud

    • 539
    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

At this moment, the user management page seamlessly covers access to Jira Cloud and Confluence Cloud under one roof. However, Bitbucket Cloud user management is completely separated.

Please unify the 3 products from a user management perspective, so that access can be granted easier to any of the 3 products.

Latest Update from Atlassian as of 20 Feb 2024:

Bitbucket Cloud recently shipped unified user management for new workspaces on Feb 5th. You can read the announcement blog here. We are still working on this feature for existing workspaces and I will have an update on the release date in the next few months. You can follow the item on our public roadmap: https://www.atlassian.com/wac/roadmap/cloud/Unified-user-management-for-existing-customers?selectedProduct=bitbucket&p=38d41238-67.

This has been a blocker to our transitioning to Bitbucket cloud up to now. We've now started using the unified user management under a newly created workspace and stumbled into an unusual issue where Bitbucket cloud requires 2FA to be configured in Bitbucket for users who need to enabled Pipelines. In this case, it Bitbucket does not appear to make a distinction between native Bitbucket users and users who come from an external IdP. Support has opened a separate feature request for this, but if you are like us, this is core functionality to centralizing authentication. You may want to go vote for this issue as well:

459c62a8d1d8 yes, the vision is to support unified user management (same SSO you use to login with Jira and Confluence etc) with Bitbucket. We are actively working on this. This includes the ability to leverage Access features for your managed users.

Is there any update on the issue? Do we have a schedule when the feature will be rolled out?

Not waiting any longer for this and other features after prolonged feature disparity with other services; we've abandoned Bitbucket for our team.

@Emma I would be the point of contact in that case. What is meant bu Solution Architect in that case? I am a responsible person for our Atlassina infrastructure.

            Hi Emma,

Will this allow our users to login to Bitbucket using SSO, as we do now for Confluence and Jira?

And Bitbucket will integrate with Atlassian Access?

            Thanks.

            Hi Emma,

Can you clarify what you mean by Solution Avocate?

Is that an Atlassian Partner or something similar to an Atlassian EA?

            Thanks,
