      Atlassian Update – 03 April 2024

      Hi everyone,

As we’re approaching the release of dark theme in Confluence 9.0, you can now get a first glimpse in Confluence 8.9 by enabling the theme.switcher dark feature. Bear in mind that we’re still working on finishing touches before the official release, and switching on the dark feature will enable dark theme for all users. We encourage you to try it in your staging environment, and let us know your feedback here.

      Kind regards,

      Jacqueline Bietz

      Atlassian Update – 02 May 2023

      Hi everyone,

Atlassian Data Center team is pleased to share that we are actively exploring our options for highly-anticipated dark mode settings for Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo! We have updated the public roadmap and are hard at work on allowing users to switch from the traditional white background to a darker, more subdued colour scheme.

There is not yet a specific date for release and we will share updates on Data Center public roadmap as we have more information. All of our product teams are excited to enhance the user experience and make our software even more accessible to a wider range of users while providing a more comfortable and visually appealing experience.

      Kind regards,

      Jacqueline Bietz

Confluence should support dark mode using the prefers-color-scheme CSS media selector https://drafts.csswg.org/mediaqueries-5/#prefers-color-scheme. More information including browser adoption can be found at https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/@media/prefers-color-scheme.
