    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

PostgreSQL 10 is under development now by PostgreSQL.org committers. We should begin to review same for Confluence Enterprise clients as well. This new version will require the new PostgeSQL 42.1.1 JDBC driver as well. As we are agile with other parts of our application, we should be so with our backend as clients will want to run the newer versions to keep up with development and features.

We have been running PGSQL 10.X for last 1+ years without any issues. JIRA/ confluence and FishEye and few non-Atlassian tools are working fine.

We had issues with # of connections. After adjusting few params, everything is working fine.

However, official "yes this is supported" statement gives more perfect sense for customers.

In my experience, migrating from PostgreSQL 9.6 to 10 wasn't that big of a jump. A new JDBC driver and running test cases and you should be good to go. Why is this issue still open? Assign this to the rookie intern and Get This Done already.

The only excuse I will accept is that you really wanted to stick with Pgadmin3 instead of upgrading to the horror that is Pgadmin4. Even then, you can get your hands on a version that works on PostgreSQL 10, you know. 😏😝

So this issue has been 'Under consideration' for over a year, with no updates from Atlassian. I guess they're just waiting until nobody is interested in Postgres 10 anymore. Likely, MS and Oracle bring in more money for supporting their databases. Why else would you work on those first? I'd suspect a small minority of users to be on one of those, and for PostgreSQL to be in the lead.

Previous commenter doesn't think "that a version should be supported as soon as its released", but I disagree. This is why vendors release alpha and beta releases. It is so that integrators can use them for early testing and be ready when a GA release is made.

What is even worse, is that the comments in these issues (for both Jira and Confluence) seem to suggest that merely updating the JDBC driver is sufficient to make it work. Even if that is not 100% true, surely it can't be that much work to fix any issues, that it must take over two years to fix.

Atlassian's stance in this is ridiculous, not to say harmful.

We have been testing Confluence with the postgresql-42.2.5.jar driver and PostgreSQL 10.x (10.9 currently) and have not experienced any issues so far.  It should be noted that PostgreSQL 12 is now in Beta.  While I don't expect that a version should be supported as soon as its released the official support will soon be three major versions out of date.

Has there been any movement on this?  Confluence 6.15.6 still only supports up to PostgreSQL 9.6.  When will support for a newer major version of PostgreSQL be added?

We have mixed results with PGSQL 10.3.

            Jira is working fine.

            fishey is having issues.

We are looking forward for PGSQL  10.X support.

We have recently released support for Microsoft SQL 2016/2017 and Oracle 12c R2. Currently we are working on a major upgrade from Java 8 to Java 11, including support for OpenJDK.
I expect that PostgreSQL 10 support will be following shortly after this.

            Cheers,

We tested Confluence with PostgreSQL JDBC Driver v42.2.4 work with PostgreSQL 10 without problem.

We updated our Confluence Docker file with above progress and it work with PostgreSQL 10 too.
