An anchor link's name changes after editing the page with Collaborative Editing switched on or set to limited

      Summary

When a link to an anchor is created, the subsequent attempt to edit a page causes the link to change its name to <page title>#<anchor link name>.

Note: This can only be replicated while Collaborative Editing is set to 'On' or 'Limited' and can be hardly replicated in new pages.

      Steps to replicate

      1. Import this space backup (space key: TEST): Confluence-space-export-160823-2.xml.zip
      2. View the page 'the lion king'. You'll see at the bottom of the page that there's anchor link named 'top' that brings you to the top of the page once you click on it.
      3. Edit the page 'the lion king'.
      4. Scroll to the bottom of the page editor.

      Expected results

The anchor link should not change from the original link name 'top'.

      Actual results

The anchor link has changed from 'top' to 'the lion king#top'.
An error message stating that you are viewing a previous version of the page also appears at the top of the page when the anchor is clicked.

This behavior also exists when a page containing a link to an anchor is copied using (...) > Copy. For these pages, this behavior exists regardless of whether the original page was corrected or not. When the broken link on the copied page is clicked, the error message mentioned above does not display.

We've installed 7.4.8 LTS, and it seems that the bug is fixed in that release, although nothing was mentioned about it in release notes. Continuing to watch on 'problematic' documents and hoping the bug has gone.

Didn't Atlassian always mention "Don't f... the customer"? But what else then that is this topic. First Atlassian support states that there will be a backport soon to 7.4 and then now for more then 3 month there happens nothing. Shame on Atlassian!

When will the fix for 7.4.x LTS be released?

More than 10 weeks ago Makisa Appleton from Atlassian promised that the fix will be back-ported to next upcoming Minor 7.4 LTS release. Was this meanwhile done, as there where intermediate LTS minor versions of 7.4 released since begin of March?

Or was this only a Answer from Atlassian at the beginning of March to keep customers silent and hoping that they don't come back to this issue after a while?

Backport to 7.4.x would be highly appreciated ...

            Hi everyone

We've been doing additional testing to ensure that the fix can be backported safely to the 7.4 LTS. All going well, we are expecting that it will be included in our next 7.4.x bug fix release. There will be a further confirmation message added as a comment when this version has been released with the backported fix. Thanks for your patience.

markus.benda the next LTS has been confirmed as 7.13 and we are targeting FY21 Q3. Please see the Community post for more information.

skairys124192546 I hope you are enjoying the Confluence Cloud experience!
