Consider this: while I am a long time wiki user, when presented with an empty space I still waste quite a lot of time in getting a space to the right structure. Adding MeetingNotes pages, adding templates, experimenting, fighting with macros etc.
My work and productivity would have been ten-fold better had I been able to select from a space gallery that Atlasian or people in a similar setting have created and posted. I can practically hit the ground running.
This should be a tremendous sales booster. I am currently evaluating this product and am working hard with an extremely tight schedule to get the management to buy in (other options being evaluated include Jot and SharePoint). Such a feature would have made a difference.

Thank you for your patience in waiting for us to look into this issue. We are excited to share that we have shipped some some work related to space templates via CONFSERVER-3191, which bundles the ability to copy spaces into Confluence versions 8.3 and later. This is a functional way to use spaces as 'templates', as it allows the copying of a standard page structure, page templates, permission sets and look and feel to new spaces. You can read more about this feature in our Copy a Space documentation. With this in mind, we will be closing this ticket.
If there are shortcomings of Copy a Space that don't fill your Space Template needs, we'd like to hear your feedback in the comments of this ticket.

[CONFSERVER-4538] Creating a Space Template
That Atlassian does not realize the wasted time we spend on re-creating spaces, or they don't care, is just ridiculous. Stuff that most users really want always seems to be put on the back burner for things that few people will use.
This is from 2005, so 16 years later they still won't address this.
We've used template for Home page with Create from template buttons to create right space structure. There're Create from template buttons on Home page, on Root pages and on Subpages. So it took time to click-save-click-save.. and finally create ready for use space.
I've made it possible to create new space from given template in just one click. You have to only pass name for new space. This has been done by using Confluence REST API. Different space templates are possible. Please note that I'm not even developer or programmer.

We totally agree! It takes us quite a lot of time to get a space ready after creation. And we don't want to write our own Space Blueprints. There really should be a simpler way.
In addition, we would really appreciate to have the possiblity to have a template team calendar on a "template space"; one that's created when creating a space based on that template.

I don't know why we bother with feature requests. This is yet another time saving and helpful feature I have looked for only to find that Atlassian have done nothing for over a decade.
Almost 12 years? You should have an age customfield to all your feature requests and suggestions. 
I do not understand how this is not a priority for Atlassian/Confluence! This has been an issue quite a few years and still no solution. I am relatively a new user and after using Confluence for few projects this would be a tremendous productivity booster. My interest is to be able to use the templates we have created over the course of few years for projects. The templates will differ based on the nature of the project.
Please do something about this!
We would really appreciate this feature. It would be a great help to standardize spaces for different purposes. It would also have the great benefit that people click create space and get a choice of predefined space template. It would catch their eye before they start to invent their own structure. They literally cannot forget anymore that there already is a template they should use.
