Summary of Bug
When a page is exported as PDF, special characters like Ω and µ are omitted.
How to reproduce
- Create a page, and include special characters like Ω
- Save the page, and then 'Export as PDF'
- In the PDF file, the 'Ω' character is completely missing
Findings
I have tried this in Confluence 4.0.3, 4.0, 3.5.9, 3.4.9, 3.3.3, 3.1.2 and 3.0.0_01. All of these versions suffer from the same problem. Have tried disabling and re-enabling the PDF Export plugin, then restart Confluence instance, but problem persists.

Workaround
Upload a font that contains these symbols to Confluence, as detailed in CONF-25887.

This bug shouldn't be labelled "resolved".
There are situations/ C.I. requirements where you have to use one specific font for your documents. Doing that just to find out that the finished PDF document arbitrarily omits characters, distorts information and changes values like "100 µs" to "100 s" (which actually means that the information is falsified by a factor of one million!) is completely unacceptable.
The result of this?
Imagine browsing through numerous PDF documents to search for all kinds of special characters that might or might not be there. On top of that you have characters like µ that exist in two versions, one of which works in the export, the other one not!
I could go and on.
