      Summary of Bug

When a page is exported as PDF, special characters like Ω and µ are omitted.

      How to reproduce

      1. Create a page, and include special characters like Ω
      2. Save the page, and then 'Export as PDF'
      3. In the PDF file, the 'Ω' character is completely missing

      Findings

I have tried this in Confluence 4.0.3, 4.0, 3.5.9, 3.4.9, 3.3.3, 3.1.2 and 3.0.0_01. All of these versions suffer from the same problem. Have tried disabling and re-enabling the PDF Export plugin, then restart Confluence instance, but problem persists.

This is how it looks like in the editor :

This is what happens after it is exported as PDF :

      Workaround

Upload a font that contains these symbols to Confluence, as detailed in CONF-25887.

Um, this shouldn't be low priority. These are basic text characters. Could you please raise the priority of this and/or CONF-30779 (which doesn't even seem to have a priority since it's just a "Suggestion")

For those who upload a new font and still see problems (particularly with mathematical symbols), please try the font in CONF-25887.

            Hi Everyone.

Given that the resolution to this issue is to provide a new font for PDF rendering in Confluence I am going to resolve this issue as duplicated by CONF-30779.

            Regards

            Hello,

tried the documentation's resolution. Sadly no improvements. Special characters are still lost.
            I took verdana.ttf as font.

Do I need to fix something with the pdf's css?

            Cheers

            Hi christopherjaksch,

We suspect this is actually related to a font problem and not a Confluence code problem, for instance I was able to export a PDF with those characters with no problem.

Can you try the resolution in this document and let us know if it works for you?

I want to confirm these bugs in Confluence 4.3.5 too.

There are even more special characters like arrows which aren't rendered in PDF exports.

Further testing shows that Chinese characters are also omitted in PDF exports.

Could this be a font issue as supposed here?
