    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

Multiple formats of the same font (bold, italic etc.) can be used if collated in a *.ttc file, but some users would want to use more than one font family in their exports.

This issue should also cover the current workaround for special characters in PDF documents. The current workaround is documented here:

      https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Create+a+PDF+in+Another+Language

By default our PDF documents should be capable of handling these special characters.

Polish special characters "ąśęćżźółń" are exported as "?".

I checked database collation and tried many different fonts in "PDF export" settings but nothing helps.

Please fix it as soon as possible

We have also this issue with special characters from foreign languages like arabic, chinese, etc...
We are not able to export to pdf from Confluence.

Serbian letters š, ć, č, ž, đ affected as well. Also special characters like arrow ->.

Please fix it oh good people of Atlassian

Latvian chars like āēīūšžķļņģč are just cut from PDF export.
Not replaced with something - just missing.

            We're using confluence cloud.
Very standard out of the box Confluence Cloud - no custom fonts, no custom css, nothing.

Renders Confluence unusable for Latvian documentation purposes. Like preparing a manual for customer in a PDF file, or product certification documentation for local auditors, etc.

Is there a workaround for this until it's fixed?

            Definately a BUG not suggestion.

@Steffen - for me the problem is not with the font, but with non-latin characters as per the issue title.

We're using confluence in Polish, with all the 'ćźżóśę' characters which works perfectly fine, but when we need to export a page into PDF - those characters are replaced by '@#$%' - making the document look like rubbish.

I believe this is the main issue here. We are not using any custom font btw.

Be good to have the ability to export macrons on letters. It's frustrating when we export any pages to PDF, Māori words are either incomplete or missing.

This "topic" is pretty complicated and I am not sure that everyone is talking about the same thing.

            My experience is this:

If you try to use a custom font in your PDF exports (by including this font in your CSS stylesheet with @font-face) this will not work, certain special characters will be missing in the PDF export.

This is true for every font that I have tried to include with @font-face. Even if I try with a font like Arial that looks like the standard font that is displayed if I don't use any @font-face at all.

So, to me it seems the problem has nothing to do with the font itself or with using a wrong font that doesn't contain all the necessary characters. It seems that the method of adding a font with @font-face doesn't work as expected and only works in part.

Do you have this problem (characters missing in PDF exports) always or only if you also try to use a custom font with @font-face?

I consider this a bug rather than a suggestion as inserting non latin symbols to confluence is a built in feature.

We have the same issue, so Export to Pdf function fully useless for us. Why so bad?
