Provide the ability to filter out deactivated users from the people directory

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

This issue has been created due to the rolling back of the fix made in CONF-7771 so we have a place to track the demand for this particular story/use case.

[CONFSERVER-16477] Provide the ability to filter out deactivated users from the people directory

Reindexing the instance is not working anymore. It is necessary to open an issue at SAC.

Since this issue was implemented, Confluence filters deleted and deactivated users by default from all user searches (the people directory, mention auto complete, etc), as long as the index is up to date, and the remote directory is configured for local replication. Confluence OnDemand is configured to do this, however some instances appear to have failed to index their users correctly. We're working on an automated fix for this issue. If your instance is affected, and you can't wait for the fix, please contact support, and they'll reindex your site during a quiet period.

I am using Confluence OnDemand and raised a ticket regarding deleting old users from the People Directory. Was referred to this link, however as mentioned above, this issue does not say anywhere how to filter out deactivated users from the people directory, even though it says it has been fixed and resolved.

Issue is marked as resolved, but I, and it seems, according to the comments above, other people are still seeing inactive users. I link my issue CONF-32702 to this one.

We are also struggling with this (v6.1.4) We would also want to hide inactive users from the people directory and keep their content retained and in tact.

Is there any news on this subject ?

We are on 5.0.2 and after reading this I'm not clear what to do in my situation. We are using an LDAP directory and disabled LDAP users are still showing in Confluence and the People directory. If I change the LDAP filter to exclude these users:

            1) Will their pages and comments still be visible (desired)?
            2) Will they be hidden from the People Directory (desired)?

Hi ryan@nmi.uk.com seems like an issue there. If you raise a ticket with support - http://support.atlassian.com - they can investigate that for you.

We are using 5.0.2 but this functionality isn't present. We use Crowd and the disabled users still show up in mentions, shares, the people directory etc. Using the showDeactivatedUsers parameter with either true or false doesn't alter the set of results. Am I missing something? Cheers.

This has been implemented as part of the fix for CONF-11467. Externally deleted and deactivated users are now filtered by default in content name search (as used in quick search and the link browser), username search (as used for mentions and shares) and the people directory. You can add a query parameter (showExternallyDeletedUsers and showDeactivatedUsers) to show these users in the people directory, but we will not be providing a UI for these options.

This is a major Human Resource issue. Humanly speaking, this is a critical bug issue, not an improvement. Who wants to see all their dead colleagues in the list?
