Issue Summary

The feature requests CONFCLOUD-73281 - The "Macro usage" page may not show exact numbers due to user permissions in the pages and Macro Usage Statistic page does not consider macros in restricted pages were closed with the statement:

[...] However if you deem it necessary, you can get a complete and accurate view of the Macro Usage page by bypassing page restrictions with admin key. Note that usage of admin key will be recorded in the audit log. [...]

However, the admin key does not provide an accurate view. The results do not include the restricted pages.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create a restricted page with a macro, for instance, Powerpoint (viewppt)
2. Access the "Macro usage" page
3. Search for the viewppt and hit the number of pages, to open the list of pages. Observe that the pages listed with viewppt do not include the restricted page
4. Reach a restricted space and enable the Admin Key
5. Access again the "Macro usage" page

Expected Results

1. Search for the viewppt and hit the number of pages, to open the list of pages.
2. You should find the restricted page now.

Actual Results

1. Search for the viewppt and hit the number of pages, to open the list of pages. Observe that the pages listed with viewppt do not include the restricted page.

Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available

Why this is Important

Multiple macros will be deprecated on 25 September 2025 as explained in Learn which macros are being removed

Confluence Admins cannot get a full view of the impact as the Macro Usage page does not show the real number of pages using the macros.
