      Status update 22 Feb 2024

      Hi everyone!

Glad to see some of you have already started seeing the inline image feature.

Looks like the first release is not meeting all your requirements i.e being able to click on an inline image (without a hyperlink) and seeing the full size image.

The team has heard your feedback and this work is currently in the final stages of development and is undergoing testing as I type this.

This should be out very soon (starting release within 2 weeks)

      Status update 21 Feb 2024

      Hi everyone!

I’m excited to announce that we have heard your feedback and are now releasing inline images in confluence!

Take a look at this community post to see how it works, ask questions and provide any feedback you might have.

Some of you may already have access to this feature, but the rollout is still in progress over the next month or so. If you don’t see it on Confluence today, rest assured that it will be available soon!

NB: Inline images may not be viewable on mobile at the moment, but our dedicated mobile team is actively working to resolve this.

We deeply value your patience as we have continually prioritised and re-prioritised our roadmaps over the years.

      Status Update 3 Feb 2022

👋 Hi - I’m a Divya Sriram, a PM on the Confluence team. I recognize that it's been a while since you've heard from the team, so I'm here with the update we owe you.

Solving for images to be inserted inline is on our priority list. Currently, we are focused on critical work to improve table formatting and performance for Confluence Cloud pages - problems that are also affecting a very broad pool of users.

We hope to start working on this soon and acknowledge that the delay on implementing this feature is frustrating for many of you. We will keep you updated on our progress.

      Thank you,

      Divya

      Status Update 13 March 2020

As we're working through this feature and others, we wanted to address a lot of your concerns as to the future of the new editor and legacy editor.

Please read our recent community post here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-Cloud-articles/Change-to-your-content-is-in-your-hands/ba-p/1324476

      Thanks,

      Description

This suggestion tracks interest for inserting images inline in the new Fabric editor.

      Workaround

      1. Go to Emoji in the toolbar
      2. Click Add New Emoji
      3. Set a emoji shortcut
      4. Upload the file you want to add in-line

      Notes

      • Pages migrated from old editor to the new one, that contains inline images, might stop displaying those images. They'll show up as inlineExtension in published mode, instead.
      • This behavior is also present when importing word documents as pages - Images that have text on the same line will be replaced by inlineExtension placeholders on the final page. (This can be replicated using the annexed .docx file)
      • [^this is an inline image.docx]
