Currently, the search functionality does not provide a way for admins to adjust the ranking of search results (see AI-588 and AI-741). This limitation can lead to older and potentially outdated pages being displayed more prominently than recent, relevant content, especially for anonymous users.
Enhancing the search results ranking to prioritize more recent content will improve the user experience for anonymous users by ensuring they have access to the most current information.
Example of Use Case
- Anonymous users often visit an instance to find the latest updates or information. However, due to the current search ranking, they may encounter older pages first, which can be misleading or no longer relevant.
Suggested Solution
- Implement a search ranking algorithm that considers the publication date of content, giving higher priority to more recent entries, especially when accessed by anonymous users.
