      User Problem

There is no way to automate closure of an incident in Opsgenie. When an alert matches in an incident rule, it creates an incident and the alert becomes "associated". There is no way to automate closure of the incident when the associated alert(s) are closed.

      Suggested Solutions

Add an option for when all associated alert(s) for an incident are closed, automatically close the incident. Basically, Incident closure should be configurable under the Incident Rules tab.

      Current Workarounds

Leverage the Incident API to build a tool that polls opsgenie for open incidents, check status of all associated alerts for each incident, and closes incidents where all associated alerts are closed.

Darn it, we wanted to use incidents as a workaround for getting metrics from alerts into Compass (mean time to resolve) but since we don't want to work with incidents and they don't auto close that failed.. Come on..

            Hi All.

I am a part of the Opsgenie Product management team and would like to thank you all for sharing your requirements on this ticket, and for the patience you have shown so far.

To start with, I acknowledge that this is a valuable use case, and it is something our teams have been working on within our A4J automation flows. As you may be aware, the A4J platform powers a lot of these use cases across Atlassian products, and more details on how it can be enabled can be found here.

Unfortunately though, we don’t have the opportunity to leverage the A4J platform on Opsgenie today, as we do on JSM. Given the complexity of building the A4J platform on Opsgenie, we may be quite some time away from having this functionality available.

The API workaround would hence continue to be the best way to manage this workflow. We’ll get back in a couple of quarters with an update on this.

Thank you again for your patience here!

We really looking forward for this Feature. 3 Years is a very long time to think about it.

933bb4f01eab is this ever going to make it into the product? We have some alerts that go to stakeholders daily and the only way to alert them is via an incident. I have to go manually close the incidents every single time when these are just meant to be informational for the stakeholders.

In my opinion, it should have been included by default when Opsgenie was created.

This is a bit ridiculous that it requires manual closure.

Why is this not already in the product? This FR has been open for 3 years!
