      Summary

The vertical scrollbar and its slider are being hidden by backlog and/or sprint header in JIRA Software 7.4.x

      Environment

      • JIRA Software 7.4.x
      • Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a test Scrum or Kanban board with sample data
      2. Go the backlog for this board
      3. If the board has a lot of issues, then the scrollbar won't actually be visible at all to the users
      4. You can resize the browser window in order to see this better and to play with this, but JIRA shouldn't be obscuring this from the page view

      Expected Results

JIRA Software should be displaying the entire scrollbar when applicable. You should be able to see the entire scroll piece to know what part of the page you are on at any given time.

      Actual Results

The scrollbar, and its slider, can be completely or partially obscured by the backlog header on the page. (see screenshot)

      Notes

      • This is not reproducible in JIRA 7.3.6 or earlier versions in my testing.
      • I was able to repro this with JIRA 7.4.0 and in 7.4.2 in both latest Firefox 54.0.1 and latest Chrome 59.0.3071.115 versions
      • Customer also reported this problem in 7.4.1
      • Reportedly IE does display this correctly.

      Workaround

      • Focus the backlog (by clicking anything inside it, like the sprint header or issues) and scroll using mouse weel/touchpad/arrow keys
      • Click on the sidebar below the header, this will bring the scrollbar to clicked position making it visible

      Update
You can toggle the sticky header feature on and off for the instance at
Settings > Applications > Jira software Configuration> Sticky sprint headers
The feature will be on by default. You can turn the  feature off to get the behavior prior to 7.4 releases, which will keep the scrollbar visible.

Turning off "Sticky sprint headers" will prevent users who are using Firefox from being able to find entries in the backlog by using "CTRL + F" shortcut.

We just updated to 8.0.0 and do have vertical scroll bars, but they are skinnier than normal and are hard to click on.

            Hi All,

This issue will be fixed in Jira 8.0.0.
Unfortunately Internet explorer does not support the new implementation, hence will work as if the feature was disabled.

            Best regards,
            Tilwin joy,

This is still an issue, and not every organization that uses Jira has the ability to ask their admin to turn it off in the software configuration.

I'd go so far as to say that this bug renders the Backlog view practically useless for anyone who has more than about half a dozen tickets in a Sprint. It's made it impossible to conduct an efficient Sprint Planning meeting for our team, to the extent that I've had to pull up the stories in the Issue Navigator instead which has its own set of drawbacks, but is preferable to being unable to scroll up and down within a Sprint.

Thankfully, our admin just switched off the Sticky Header, so we can actually navigate our Sprints again. This should not be taking this long to fix.

Feedback from our users:   It would be nice to have the scrollbar visible and also benefit from Sticky Headers feature.

@Atlassian: A feature that is buggy should not be turned on by default.
This only results in irritated customers who have to spend time only to learn that you can deactivate the feature.

@Jennifer - Thanks for this! Totally missed it out and so happy to be able to switch it off for now. The sticky header is a nice feature which we'll definitely switch back on as soon as it is fixed. But with this bug it's quite irritating, especially for users who are fairly new to using Jira.

We have ran into this immediately after update to 7.10. Why is this not a high priority - it is a very annoying usability issue.

We just upgraded to version 7.10.0 and this is affected as well (using Google Chrome version 68.0.3440.106).
