      Reporter display name used as From Name in email notifications

      • Service desk's inbound email address = jt-two

      Notice the "From:" inside the mailitem content. The name attached to "From" should be the name of the service desk or the name of the agent leaving the comment.

      This causes some mail clients, including Outlook, to show the messages as being from the reporter instead of from JIRA Service Desk.

            I've just created raised an atlassian support issue and the notification I received appeared to come from me.

            If this message appeared "from" service desk it would reduce the potential for confusion.

            I currently have two service desks, one was created a few versions ago, this has retained the "from" notifications appearing from the service desk email (e.g. ServiceDesk1 <ServiceDesk1@mydomain.com>). I've created a new service desk today in version 2.1 and the "from" notification shows the issue creator (e.g. Joe Reporter <ServiceDesk2@mydomain.com>)

            Is this a bug?

            Hello all!

            The fix for this issue does not modify the from name that appears on Issue Created emails that are sent to a customer. These notifications continue to show the reporter as the from name. There is an open suggestion to change this - JSD-1188

            Although the fix for this bug hasn't been released for JIRA Server Service Desk yet, it's already been rolled out to OnDemand (see Upcoming Atlassian OnDemand upgrade for week starting on 26 October 2014).

            This is a major hold-up for us as well. Luckily we are not yet using Atlassian in production. We can't implement software with serious bugs like this to our end users.

            Hi Tim,

            Can you please let me when this issues will be fixed.

            We urgently need to deploy JIRA service desk can we cannot start using (even we are paying for it) until this issue is fixed as our customer will be very confused when reply to notification emails.
