Problem Definition
Affected Jira Service Desk 4.5.1. The use of words in the translation could be improved to have a better notion. There is the use of the personal form of address "deinen". Then in the next sentence, the polite form of address is used "Sie".
Suggested Solution
Either:
- Change the first sentence to use the polite form: "Das zurücksetzen des Passwortes ist für Ihren Benutzernamen deaktiviert."
- Change the second sentence to use the personal form: "Bitte wende dich an deinen Jira Service Desk Administrator,..."
Workaround
Make the changes manually:
Ensure to test in a Staging instance first
- Download or make a copy of the Jira Service Desk obr file (e.g.: jira-servicedesk-application-4.5.1.obr)
If you have the jar file, skip to Step 3
- Extract the file. Access into the extracted folder
- In the folder, extract the jar file
- Access the extracted folder
- Edit the "translation-single-i18n_de_DE.properties" file
- Search for the following entries and make the necessary changes:
sd.email.conversational.notification.cannot.reset.password.content.disabled sd.email.conversational.notification.cannot.reset.password.content.contact
- Save the file
- Compress back all the files back to the original state
- Place the modified and compressed jar file into <JIRA_HOME>/plugins/installed-plugins directory of the Jira instance.
- Ensure to replace it with the previous jar file
- Restart Jira instance
