    • We collect Jira Service Desk feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Jira Service Management Data Center. Using Jira Service Management Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

As a Jira Service Management user, I'd like to be able to at least edit my own comments, so that I do not have to re-enter a new comment if I mis-typed my previous comment.

This can avoid the ticket from getting swamped with comments, and end up with a messy looking ticket.

[JSDSERVER-614] Allow users to edit their own comments

            +1

Our customers are requesting this feature, too.

A minimum solution would allow the user who made the comment to change it for a limited time period (for example one hour after making the comment)

Please consider to add this feature! Maybe make it configurable so we can decide if customers can edit comment or not.

As a first step in the right direction, the "grace period" could be imposed by Atlassian; the next step would be to make it configurable (whether under Permission Schemes or Portal settings)...

I can't tell you how helpful it would be to be able to edit my last post.  So many times, I don't realize I corrupted my post, until after I clicked the "Add" button.  Then I'm forced to post another entry, explaining what I miss-wrote in the previous post.   I can see you might want to limit the editing to ONLY the last user post, but before the Support Engineer responds to that post.  So their is no confusion of the Support Engineer after they have responded.  But it would be so helpful to quickly correct a typo made, BEFORE the Support Engineer even has had the time to review the last user post.

Ah, this window allows me to edit my post.  So helpful.

I've been reading up on this problem on the web, Atlassian forum and here. It baffles me how confused Atlassian is reacting to this request. This should have been a requirement before release guys. How do you run a service desk with a service desk tool that can't let customers edit forms.

My Customers need this! They often have situations where they are filling out a ticket and need it to hang in a draft status while they research prerequisite information. Not being able to do this is maddening and inefficient for our teams. It causes users to sometimes lose their ticket, frustration and loss of time.

This a four year old ticket for basic functionality. Service Desk is a shining example of YAGNI run amok, and this issue is only one among many examples.

For commenting on a ticket, the most basic concept of Create/Read/Update/Delete would have led one to understand that update and delete would be a necessary part of the implementation.

Users get frustrated not to have the ability to edit the ticket description.

Currently, they have to add a new (unwanted) comment to correct the issue description.

Nobody has Service Pack for JIRA Service Desk, and it should not be required. As Sylwia Ganiec mentions, it is common practice for users to need/want to edit or delete their comments. For example, if they accidently add a password or they simply need to clarify their statement so that you understand the question or information. There is a way to edit, but no way to delete it yet.

I am an user of the Portal and it would be very convenient for me to be able to edit my comments. It is a common practice that a creator can modify own posts. Delete option should also be available.

Same reason as comment, if you misspell or mis-typed then you are able to fix this yourself instead sending comments with new description of the issue.
