Summary

      Customer portal not showing error message on incorrect login

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. In Service Desk project, add new customer
      2. In separate browser window, open Customer portal page (<base_URL>/jira7121/servicedesk)
      3. Try to log in using wrong password or username

      Expected Results

      Jira should display wrong credentials error message in browser.

      Actual Results

      Jira doesn't display wrong credentials message, the loading wheel keeps spinning. Thus, there is no warning that something is wrong.
      Following gets displayed in the browser developer console in attempt to add an error message:

            Guys, this is not only for existing Customers and wrong credentials. Even the hint for Password Policy is not showed. That mean, I am new Customer and I do input of not enough strong or too strong password, I do not receive any message what is wrong and why I cannot enter the Service Desk. Guys, this is crucial, my customer cannot invite customers! Meaning, they are not able to use Service Desk purpose!

            Please ensure that a fix for this is released for the 7.x product, as many of us in an 'enterprise' context will not upgrade to 8.0 until its well bedded in.

            Please have a look upon this bug! It is a serious problem for customers, whereas it hinders delivering efficient support + communication.

            We are also affected by this but are on 3.15.0

             

            Also we have a similar problem when resetting password, where the error that the new password does not meet the complexity requirements is not shown.

            I'd like to stress that there is literally no warning to the user that something is wrong. This causes major detrimental impact to customers of your clients as they believe their service desk is not responding, which either causes disruption as people contact the company directly, or they don't bother reporting / checking issues.
