    • We collect Jira Service Desk feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

      NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Service Desk Server. Using JIRA Service Desk Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Our SASS service sends email/alerts to JIRA Service desk.  The alerts include HTML formatted text in red, bold, tables..etc.  However, a lot of these formatting are stripped away when JIRA Service Desk creates the ticket and important information are lost.  I am hoping this issue can be addressed soon as it's very important in our business use case to be able to preserve such formatting.  We are specifically looking for font color to be preserved.

      Example of HTML color formatting:

      <td BGCOLOR=#FF0000>

            Background colour is not supported in the wiki markup, except when within panel contexts (see this link).

            However, a panel will not allow specific highlighting of words.

            To get this type of feature, it would first need to be added to the possible wiki markup actions in JIRA Core. Therefore, I would recommend raising a feature suggestion in the JRA project

            So, your explanation is correct that background colors are not preserved.   I would definitely like this feature (and I'm sure the original submitter, and others would as well)

            What would be involved in adding background color support?  (Our customers tend to "highlight" things in their emails which does change the background color.)
