    • We collect Jira Service Desk feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

      NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Service Desk Server. Using JIRA Service Desk Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Our SASS service sends email/alerts to JIRA Service desk.  The alerts include HTML formatted text in red, bold, tables..etc.  However, a lot of these formatting are stripped away when JIRA Service Desk creates the ticket and important information are lost.  I am hoping this issue can be addressed soon as it's very important in our business use case to be able to preserve such formatting.  We are specifically looking for font color to be preserved.

      Example of HTML color formatting:

      <td BGCOLOR=#FF0000>

          Form Name

            Background colour is not supported in the wiki markup, except when within panel contexts (see this link).

            However, a panel will not allow specific highlighting of words.

            To get this type of feature, it would first need to be added to the possible wiki markup actions in JIRA Core. Therefore, I would recommend raising a feature suggestion in the JRA project

            So, your explanation is correct that background colors are not preserved.   I would definitely like this feature (and I'm sure the original submitter, and others would as well)

            What would be involved in adding background color support?  (Our customers tend to "highlight" things in their emails which does change the background color.)

            Great to hear

            I believe that not all colours are supported within JIRA, but hopefully the end result is now a lot more useful

            Regards

            Oh, I figured it out.  I also needed to set Description to be wiki field... when support requests come in through service desk, the body of the request is put into the issue description.

            Looks like (most) colors are being preserved.

            Hi mmcmahon

            I'm expecting that the colors are preserved.  I've switched the renderer for the comments field to be wiki rendered.  Would I need to re-index?  The comment is showing the bare wiki markup when just browsing the comment, and colors are not preserved.

            Hi technical4

            What are you expectations?

            The color formatting, is able to work on the text color only, as it is not possible to alter the background color.

            However, if you see any specific bugs related to this conversion, please raise them.

            Regards

            Matt

            Hi markm820418057

            As a wiki rendered comment, that markup looks correct.

            Is your field configuration, set to Default Renderer instead of Wiki Renderer for the Description / Comment field?

            If so, and you prefer to retain the default (as-is) rendering, opposed to the wiki rendering, than I would recommend changing the Service Desk Email Request global setting to use plain text for incoming email, and not convert the html to wiki, as this would give a better result.

            Regards

            Matt

            This is also affecting us.

            Running JIRA Server 7.2.7, SD 3.2.7.

            Color formatting not handled right.  Tickets come into the service desk and the body looks like this:

            ------------

            {color:#1F497D}Good Morning Mark/Jim,{color}

            {color:#1F497D} {color}

            {color:#1F497D}Have you had a chance to look into the email below from yesterday?{color}

            {color:#1F497D} {color}

            {color:#1F497D}We are also seeing another issue in Renovations, and would like to request a small change.{color}

            We are running JIRA Server 7.2.4 and SD 3.2.7 and the color formatting for HTML still isn't handled right.  Are my expectations incorrect?

            This is fixed, but for Server will require atleast JIRA 7.2.1
