"What do you need help with" search box on Help Center uses Confluence's 'Application URL' instead of 'Display URL'

Summary

In JIRA Service Desk, when searching from the Help Center, provided suggestions redirect to the Application Links' "Application URL" when clicking documents from Confluence, whereas, using the similar search box from within a specific Service Desk properly uses the "Display URL".

Environment

• JIRA 7.1.2
• Confluence 5.9.6
• Service Desk 3.1.2

Steps to Reproduce

1. Setup JIRA with JIRA Service Desk and Confluence on any of the above versions;
2. Create an unproxied Application Link between JIRA and Confluence (or any other approach that results in different addresses for Application URL and Display URL);
3. Link a Service Desk in JIRA to a Space in Confluence to be used as a Knowledge Base, under the Service Desk's settings;
4. Create one or more page/s within the linked Confluence Space;
5. From within the Help Center, search for one of the created pages;
   • Notice the URL displayed is the Application URL. In some cases, the URL may only be accessible from within the internal network, causing the browser to display an empty window;
   • Another possible problem is running JIRA over HTTPS and having the Application URL setup as HTTP, which, even though customers may be able to reach the referred address, no modern browser will display the content due to the usage of an "insecure protocol" inside a "secure page";

Expected Results

Both links from the Help Center and the Customer Portal should use the Display URL of the Confluence instance.

Actual Results

The Help Center search box will use the Application URL instead of the Display URL for the linked Confluence instance, whereas the Customer Portal for a specific Service Desk will properly use the Display URL of the linked Confluence when running searches through the search box.

Workaround

Use the same address for both the Display URL and Application URL.
